Your Demise

First, most people in Spain are wondering how is a show of Your Demise and which songs you are playing on tour. Could you define your show? What are your favourite tracks to play live?

A YD show is essentially like a party. We just want everyone in that room, whether you’re chilling at the back, or hitting dat pit up in the front, to have as much fun as possible. If we’re having fun, then everyone should be doing the same. I like playing all our songs! To be fair, I’m most excited about playing these new songs live!

Especially when we consider that you edit your new album after your shows in Spain, Do you play many songs of your new album?

We’ll be playing a couple for sure! Not too many, but we want to give you guys a taste of what’s to come.

So, what are the differences and similarities that we can find in “The Golden Age” in comparison to your previous LPs? How did you guys approach the writing and recording for your new songs?

Essentially, when we came to writing this album, we really just played what we wanted to play. We’ve all grown up listening to punk rock from the 90′s, and it’s something we all still hold very close to our hearts, so we definitely took a lot of influence from that this time round. It’s still heavy, but we we’ve expanded our horizons.

Btw, how was the process of gearing up for this record? Did you feel any pressure?

Nah, none at all. We wrote the record in a really relaxed environment in Germany over the Summer, just ourselves, locked away for 2 weeks. It was sick, super relaxed.

Recently it was announced that You Me At Six frontman Josh Franceschi has been included in The Golden Age as guest vocalist. This leads me to ask about your conection with You Me At Six, cause both are different styles.

The YMAS boys have been good friends of ours for a while now. We first played with them in the USA with BMTH & Shikari on a one-off show, and from then on, just became real homies. They’re the best dudes in the world, their band is the best of their genre, and Josh is a great singer, so that’s why we got him!

You’ve toured with so many great bands, is there one band that really stood out and was special for you?

We get on real good with pretty much every band we tour with. Obviously there’s some that stand out though – The Ghost Inside, The Devil Wears Prada, Miss May I, Letlive., and all the British bands we’ve toured with like Shikari, Architects etc.

Your Demise have been able to progress without ever abandoning your original sound. Do you think it’s important for bands like yourselves to tour with older bands so you can expose yourself to a fresh market and avoid becoming stagnant?

I think it’s always important to tour with bands that have been around longer than yours. They’re going to be more experienced, and you can learn things from them! It’s also great to play to as many different kinds of people as possible, from all different genres.

What does it mean for you the title of “Golden Age”? Can you relate a little with a new stage in the band that you will grow up?

Yeah, that’s exactly it. We feel like we’ve really found our feet on this record, in terms of sound and attitude, so I suppose you could say, we’re entering our “Golden Age”.

Finally, I wondered about most of the time your music is categorized as hardcore, would you agree to that?

I don’t think it really matters what our band is labelled as. We don’t care whatsoever, but if someone wants to call us that, that’s fine! Obviously we all love hardcore, and take huge influence from it, but that doesn’t necessarily make is one I guess!

Thats all Tailby! Thanks a lot! See you soon in Spain!
