Yellowcard

It’s your first time in Spain. How do you feel about playing the first shows in Spain? What is it that you like best about Spain?

We have always wanted to come to Spain. Our fans there have been asking us to come for several years so we couldn’t be more excited to finally be playing there. I’d say my favorite thing about Spain without being there yet is Spanish football.

Most people in Spain are wondering how is a Yellowcard show and which songs you are playing on tour. Could you define your show? What are your favourite tracks to play live?

We try to play a good mix of songs from all of our records. Putting together a set list gets more challenging with each record because there are just so many songs now. Right now I am loving playing “With You Around” and “Sing For Me” from our new record.

How is the tour going so far? Is the audience receptive to both the new material and you guys in general?

The whole year has been amazing so far. We will have visited over 20 countries by the end of the year. Fans everywhere have been loving the new songs and the shows have been incredible.

After being gone for a couple of years, how was it playing around the world after the hiatus? Do you feel that the scene has changed?

The scene has certainly changed. But I think we are very lucky to have a fan base around the world that has stuck with us, even throughout the hiatus.

Let’s talk about “When You’re Through Thinking, Say Yes”. Was it easy, the writing and recording process? Especially considering that you guys hadn’t spent much time together working on music during the hiatus

It actually was pretty easy because of how excited we were to make it. I think that excitement was a direct result of taking the time off.

Was there anything in particular you were listening to when writing the album?

I actually tried now to listen to much music during that time. I wanted the record to really come from us and be the most true to Yellowcard that it could be.

What does it mean for you the title of the album? Is it sort of a metaphor for the band getting back together and things starting back up again? Something like when you can’t think of anything else, do you it?

It captures a positive feeling and that’s where we want to be as a band. We are really looking forward to the future of Yellowcard and the title was a great way to keep us reminded of how awesome it is that we are still playing rock music every day.

It’s said that this new album has a closer and more accessible wave. Is that something you were looking for? What do you think differentiates this new album of the previous?

We just wanted to make a record that our fans would completely love. There is so much good energy on the record because we had such an amazing time writing and recording it. I think there is a similar feeling to some of the early Yellowcard records on the new album.

You guys have gone from working with Capitol Records to work with Hopeless Records. What differences have you felt?

Honestly not a whole lot. The people at Hopeless have been so involved and dedicated and that’s all you can ask for as a band. We are still getting new and amazing opportunities every day because of all the hard work that Hopeless does on our behalf.

If you have anything more to add, any news of things to come?

I think that’s it. We are just really stoked that we are finally going to play in Spain. So to our fans there I’d like to say thank you for waiting and we will see you soon!
