Tras una buena respuesta en el Reino Unido con su primer álbum “A Clear Perception”, The Eyes Of A Traitor comenzaron el pasado mes de Abril una gira de presentación por toda Europa como grupo de apoyo de The Chariot y Iwrestledabearonce, en la que sorprendieron a más de uno con un excelente y trabajado directo. Dos meses después sale al mercado su nuevo trabajo, “Breathless”, con el que esperan consagrarse a nivel Europeo e intentar dar el salto a nivel mundial. Hemos tenido el placer de hablar con el nuevo bajista de la banda, Jack Moulsdale.
En primer lugar. ¿Os sorprende que un webzine de España se interese por vosotros?
Sí, estamos muy sorprendidos ya que el grupo solo ha tocado unas cuantas veces en España. Yo en particular, sólo toqué en un par de conciertos ya que era mi primera gira como miembro del grupo.
Vuestro nuevo álbum, “Breathless”, a la venta el próximo 12 de Julio, ha sido grabado en Estudios Outhouse (Architects, Your Demise, You Me At Six). ¿Era vuestra primera opción? ¿Por qué este estudio y no otro?
La razón por la que hemos grabado en los estudios Outhouse es porque sabíamos cómo queríamos que sonara “Breathless” y estábamos seguros de que John Mitchell y sus chicos podían ayudarnos a producirlo de la manera que queríamos. ¡Y creemos que lo han conseguido!
¿Cuáles son las diferencias y similitudes entre “Breathless” y vuestro anterior trabajo “A Clear Perception”?
La diferencia entre “Breathless” y “A Clear Perception” es la identificación y la evolución que ha sufrido el grupo. Obviamente, el nuevo disco es menos metal
core, pero pienso que es mucho más duro y heavy. Puede que sea criticado por eso, pero esperamos que el público acepte el disco tal y como es, y que les guste tanto como nos gusta a nosotros.
Como novedad, vais a editar “Breathless” en Japón a través de Doom Patrol Foundation. ¿Como crees que responderá el publico japonés?
Como soy nuevo en el grupo, no sabía que iba a ser publicado en Japón. Espero que se venda bien, y debo decir que estaríamos encantados de tocar en Japón.
Hace unos meses estuvisteis de gira con The Chariot y Iwrestledabearonce por toda Europa. ¿Qué tal la experiencia? ¿Hay mucha diferencia entre tocar en España, Francia, Italia, Alemania, y hacerlo en el Reino Unido? Siempre he pensado que el público del Reino Unido apoya mas este tipo de música.
Estar de gira con The Chariot y Iwrestabearonce fue increíble, seguirán siendo muy buenos amigos nuestros. La verdad es que hay mucho público en Europa, la respuesta fue tan buena y activa como si estuviéramos en el Reino Unido.
Hay muchas bandas y discográficas en España que ponen su música en descarga gratuita. ¿Está el Reino Unido en la misma situación?
Sí, también pasa aquí, pero no tanto como cuando estás en una discográfica. Se puede hacer, pero ¡Es muy caro publicar un disco que se distribuya gratuitamente!
¿Qué opinión tienes de los webzines, son una parte importante en la difusión de vuestra música?
Las webzines son una buena forma de dar a conocer al mundo nueva música sobre la que un grupo de personas está realmente interesada de verdad, eliminando las políticas de las discográficas, etc.
La última pregunta es obvia. ¿Volveréis por España con el nuevo álbum?
Sí. Tenemos muchas ganas de volver a España y al resto de Europa. ¡Todavía no habéis visto en directo lo nuevo del grupo!

First, Are you surprised with the interest of an spanish webzine in you?
Yes, we are very suprised as the band has only played a handful of shows in Spain. And i have only played a couple as it was my first tour with the band a few months ago.
Your new album, “Breathless” will be out on July 12, recorded at Recording’s Outhouse Studios (Architects, Your Demise, You Me At Six), This place was your first option to record? Why this place and not another?
The reason we recorded at outhouse was because we knew “Breathless” had to have a certain sound and we knew John Mitchell and the guys could help us produce it how we wanted. We think they did!
What are the differences and similarities that we can find in the new songs in comparison to your previous LP “A Clear Perception”?
The difference between “Breathless” and “A Clear Perception” is the identification and ongoing evolution of the band. Obviously it is less metal-core but i think alot heavier and will be criticized for this but hopefully people will accept it for what it is and love it as much as we do.
You’re going to edit this in Japan via Doom Patrol Foundation. How do you think the japanese public will receive your new album? Are you excited about it?
As i’m new to the band i had no idea it was being released in Japan. I hope it will sell well, and it goes without saying we would be extatic to go over and tour Japan.
A few months ago, you toured with The Chariot and Iwrestledabearonce. What about the experience? Is there much difference between playing in Spain, France, Italy, Germany, and do it in UK? I’ve always thought that the UK public support this kind of music more than here.
The Chariot and Iwrestledabearonce tour was incredible they will remain very good friends. And in all honesty there is a huge scene in Europe the response was as good and as active as if we were playing in the UK.
There are many bands and labels in Spain that put their music and new albums for free download. Is it the same situation in the UK?
Yes it happens here but not so much if you are on a label. You can do well, but its expensive so release a free record!
What opinion do you have about webzines? Are they an important part in the diffusion of your music?
Webzines are a great way of showing the world new music that a group of people genuinely care about and removing label politics etc.
The final question is obviously, will you come to Spain with this new album?
Yes! We cannot wait to come back to Spain and the rest of europe. You haven’t seen the last of us yet Spain!
